SWAMI VIVEKANANDA INSTITUTE OF PARAMEDICAL SCIENCES & TECHNOLOGY started functioning in 2022 under the aegis of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama Charitable Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. 

This 300 bedded specialty hospital was started in 1937 as an extension of Sri Ramakrishna Ashramam, Nettayam, which is a branch of world-wide Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission with its Head Quarters at Belur, West Bengal.

The college is approved in GO (MS) No: 253/2022/H &FWD .02/12/2022 by the Govt of Kerala of Health & Family Welfare Department and recognized by the Director of Medical Education (DME), Kerala and the Paramedical Council of Kerala.

Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT)

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Plus two with science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology )

No of seat: 10 [ 5 Management seat )

Duration of the course is 2 years. The course consists of the following three subjects:
1. Biochemistry
2. Histopathology. Blood Banking and Hematology
3. Microbiology and Parasitology.
An examination will be conducted at the end of the course, with written viva and practical tests. A minimum of 50% marks in each of the above three subjects is required for a pass.

Diploma in Radiodiological Techniques (DRT)

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Plus two with science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology )                

No of seat: 10 [ 5 Management seat ] 


Duration of the course 2 years .
Regular examination  shall be conducted at the end of the academic year 
Total 6 papers ( 3 papers in 1st yr & 3 papers in 2nd year)

1) General and Radiation physics 
2)Anatomy 
3)physiology & Pathology 

2nd year
1)Physics of medical Imaging& Radiation safety Diagnosis 
2) Radiographic techniques 
3)Advanced Medical Imaging Technology
A minimum 50% of marks  in each of the subject is required for pass.

Diploma in Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technology (DOTAT)

Duration: 2 ½ years

Eligibility: Plus two with science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology )

No of seat: 10 [ 5 Management seat ]


Duration of the course including practical training is 2 years and 6 months.
Subjects
1. Basic Science including Pharmacology.
2. Biomedical equipments.
3. Operation Theatre Techniques.
Examination will be at the end of second year followed by a training for 6 months.
A minimum 50% of marks in each of the subjects is required for a pass. Pass certificate will be issued only on successful completion of 6 months practical training as part of the training no stipend is payable.

Diploma in Dialysis Technology (DDT)

Duration: 2 years  

Eligibility: Plus two with science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology )   

No of seat: 3 [ 1 Management seat ]

Duration of the course is 2 years that comprises of didactic course and training in various aspects of dialysis. At the end of first year there will be an examination consisting of two papers viz.

1. Fundamentals of Nephrology and Dialisys Technology and
2. Recent advances in Neurology and Dialisys Technology, with written, oral and practical test.
A minimum 50% of marks in each of the subjects is required for a pass. On completion of the first year the candidate will undergo one year training in the same institution. No stipend is payable.
